Working Environment

Scottish Rugby Hospitality, working in partnership with Scottish Rugby, provides all matchday and non-matchday food and beverage operations at Scottish Gas, Murrayfield Stadium.

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented Commercial Financial Controller to join our team and continue to provide outstanding financial support and success to our operations. To be considered for this role you will need to have strong financial acumen, be analytical in mindset, and have strong reporting skills. Knowledge of contract catering would be beneficial but not essential.

Job Description

The prime objective of the role is to provide commercial analysis and insight, financial reporting, and forecasting, and to influence and challenge business decisions to maximise business profit.

This role is key to the success of our delivery. You will work closely with the senior management team of Elior and Scottish Rugby to ensure that our financial performance is in line with key objectives of the contract, and that both fixed, variable costs and expenditures are within acceptable weekly limits, and that we're always operating to achieve profitability targets.

As the Commercial Financial Controller, you will be responsible for:

Key Operational Accountabilities:

  • Business partnering with the onsite operations team.
  • Consistent weekly reporting of sales, gross profit, labour, and overheads for each profit centre. Unlock and visualise the key drivers on the performance of the hospitality contract, providing insight to growth across different revenue streams.
  • Produce KPI dashboard on the effectiveness of the Murrayfield hospitality contract
  • Prepare monthly pack that tells the story in numbers and highlights the effectiveness of the Elior catering operation and all supporting functions
  • This will include operational effectiveness of the various events, event-based P&Ls, effectiveness of the sales and marketing initiatives, in depth variance analysis
  • Assisting in client presentations on the key messages of financial performance, driving a risk and opps schedule and responding to client queries in a timely manner.
  • Identify and report on key trend metrics on various events in a financial dashboard.
  • Lead the planning/forecast iterations for the Stadium through partnering with MD/client to align business strategy to financial performance.
  • Work alongside the MDs to bring clarity to actions needed in the delivery of periodic and year-end numbers; driving actions to deliver results.
  • Insights on high/low margin products & recommendations to improve profitability.
  • Focus around purchasing compliance, and identifying opportunities to improve profitability (switch & saves of products/suppliers etc)
  • Assess overall finance compliance and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Provide decision support to initiatives and projects supporting delivery of targets through insightful analysis and idea generation

As Commercial Financial Controller, we look for the following skills, experience, and qualifications:

  • Strong analytical capabilities coupled with successful business partnering
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own initiative, effectively prioritise and manage workload, meeting tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with people at all levels in the organisation
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills - including pivot tables, formulae, lookup tables, 'if' statements & comfortable with multi-workbook reporting
